Registration for Golf’s Ultimate Charitable Challenge Now Open with New Ways to Participate

Monterey, Calif. Youth on Course – the nonprofit organization providing youth with access to life-changing opportunities through golf today announced the schedule for its 9th annual 100 Hole Hike fundraising initiative. The 2024 Season is highlighted by three Premier Hikes, teeing off on the East Coast at The Cradle at Pinehurst Resort and culminating on the West Coast at The Hay at Pebble Beach Resort, and includes the first-ever Premier Canadian Hike at The Nest at Cabot Cape Breton in Inverness, Nova Scotia.

“The Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike is a key driver to expand access to the sport,” said Youth on Course CEO Adam Heieck. “Since its inception, we’ve raised millions of dollars that directly go to subsidizing rounds of golf for youth. We’re grateful to partner with such venerable golf destinations like Pinehurst Resort, Pebble Beach Golf Resorts, and new for this season, Cabot Cape Breton. This year we’ve rolled out new ways to participate, including a team format, that allows fundraisers to play only a portion of the 100 holes, creating a fun competition and a less physically intensive way to be involved. We look forward to partnering with golfers across the U.S. and Canada to increase access to the sport.”

Youth on Course supporters nationwide will be challenged to complete 100 holes of golf in one day and secure donations to increase affordability and accessibility for youth interested in golf.

“Since 2015, the 100 Hole Hike initiative has become the most impactful fundraising initiative to support our members through access,” Jeff Clark, Chief Development Officer for Youth on Course, said. “Those who participate will not only feel satisfied helping youth but will also know they themselves can overcome any mental and physical challenges in their lives to do so.”

This year, registered participants can select between three Premier Hikes, eight National Hikes, and more than 10 Hikes organized by regional Allied Golf Associations. The three Premier Hikes require a minimum fundraising goal of $10,000 for each golfer, and the nine National Hikes require a minimum of $1,000.

The Premier Hikes include The Cradle at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C., on Aug. 26, The Nest at Cabot Cape Breton in Inverness, Nova Scotia, on Oct. 4, and The Hay at Pebble Beach Resort in Pebble Beach, California, on Nov. 11. Each participant will be provided with overnight accommodations, and additional incentives for reaching minimums and beyond, including a stay-and-play at Pebble Beach Resorts for U.S. participants, and a stay-and-play at Cabot Cliffs for those participating in Canada.

“The Cradle was built to celebrate the fun of the game of golf and to be enjoyed by all levels of golfers,” says Tom Pashley, Pinehurst Resort President. “The 100 Hole Hike plays an important role in ensuring future generations have the same opportunities to grow in the game. We’re excited for The Cradle to be such a big part in helping make the game more accessible to all who want to play it.”

“The Hay has become a focal point of our property that presents a welcoming atmosphere for beginners, and challenging shot making for advanced players,” says David Stivers, Pebble Beach Company’s Chief Executive Officer. “Partnering with Youth on Course is a great source of pride for us as we support their mission of opening doors for young people both on and off the course.”

Those participating in any of the eight National Hikes will be incentivized with a Youth on Course-branded water bottle, golf towel, and Seamus headcover when they raise $2,500, a $500 voucher to PGA Tour Superstore when they reach $5,000 in donations, or an invitation to stay-and-play at Pebble Beach Resorts if they reach $10,000 or more.

The schedule for the eight National Hikes is as follows:

  • Aug. 26 – Golden Gate Park Golf Course – San Francisco, Calif.
  • Sept. 9 – Corica Park Golf Course – Alameda, Calif.
  • Sept. 13 – Mariners Point Golf Center – Foster City, Calif.
  • Sept. 16 – 3’s Greenville Golf & Grubhouse – Greenville, S.C.
  • Sept. 23 – Maidstone Club Short Course – Long Island, N.Y.
  • Oct. 3 – Northwood Golf Club – Sonoma, Calif.
  • Oct. 14 – Topgolf Los Angeles – El Segundo, Calif.
  • Nov. 7 – Butler Pitch & Putt Par 3 – Austin, Texas

Supporters may also participate at any course across the country by gathering teams in multiples of four or donating any amount to a Hiker via the leaderboard. Learn more about additional ways to get involved here

The Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike evolved from a 2011 event created by Jim Colton and has experienced exponential year-over-year growth since its implementation by Youth on Course in 2015. Since its inception, millions of dollars have been raised supporting affordable youth golf access, providing over 1.2M subsidized rounds of golf.

Founded in 2006, Youth on Course now has nearly 200,000 members who can play golf for $5 or less at more than 2,000 courses throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Beyond affordable access, Youth on Course launched an Alumni Network earlier this year, connecting over 75,000 young adults nationwide who share a connection with golf. For $20 per year, Alumni can access exclusive benefits and opportunities valued at over $500 through the Youth on Course mobile app, including complimentary subscriptions to NBC Sports Next’s GolfPass and Peacock streaming, discounts on renowned golf brands like TaylorMade Golf and LinkSoul and exclusive app access to ParPoints.

LOS ANGELES – Golf personality and Youth on Course Ambassador, Tisha Alyn, recently hosted 40 female Youth on Course members and their parents from the Los Angeles area at the Lakes at El Segundo Topgolf facility for the inaugural ‘In My Golf Girl Era’ golf event.

The inaugural event provided a positive and inclusive environment for young girls to explore the game of golf. The evening showcased the experiences of successful women in the sport and highlighted the exciting opportunities that are driving growth in the game.

Tisha Alyn, a certified youth golf instructor and passionate advocate for growing youth access to the game moderated a brief panel discussion featuring several notable female leaders. The panel offered participants an opportunity to network and learn from accomplished female athletes including, Angel City Captain Ali Riley, Guinness World Record holder Jenna Bandy, former LPGA Tour player and Fullerton women’s golf coach Pearl Sinn Bonanni and Charlotte Sue from ESPN W.

The panel discussion was followed by a shotgun round of 10 holes where athletes and influencers served as caddies for the Youth on Course participants.

“I’ve dreamed about this moment since I was a young girl, fueled by the absence of events that celebrated and uplifted girls like me. Growing up in golf, ‘Youth on Course’ provided me with access and opportunities that ignited my passion for the game. I knew they were the perfect organization to collaborate with to create this event,” said Tisha Alyn. “I’m thankful for the partnership of LAGC and Topgolf, which have been instrumental in paving the way for a new generation. Together, we will continue to empower young women in this new era of golf, one swing at a time.”

Youth on Course, Topgolf, and Los Angeles Golf Club partnered to produce the event with Tisha.

“We are thrilled to partner with Tisha to provide this incredible experience to our members,” said Steven Martin, Youth on Course CMO. “Her passion for golf and dedication to empowering young women in the game aligns perfectly with our mission. Events like this are pivotal in increasing access and ensure that indeed, we are entering a new and exciting era in the game of golf.”

“As Los Angeles Golf Club signals a new day for the sport, so does Tisha Alyn,” said Neal Hubman, President LAGC. “We couldn’t be more proud to support her event and investment in the next generation of golfers.”

As an added bonus, all Youth on Course participants and their parents received a complimentary ticket package to the JM Eagle LA Championship teeing off April 25 at Wilshire Country Club. Each ticket package is valid for any round Thursday – Sunday. Youth are encouraged to attend on Saturday to celebrate Junior Golf Day at the tournament, where Tisha will be in attendance and the youth members can participate in various activities throughout the day.

Founded in 2006, Youth on Course now has nearly 200,000 members with access to play golf for $5 or less at more than 2,000 courses throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia.

This partnership brings support to five AJGA events in 2024

Braselton, Ga. – Youth on Course is set to support the AJGA’s Day in a Life program, expanding its reach to five events this year. This partnership brings an exciting collaboration aimed at introducing the next generation to career paths in golf beyond playing the game.

The Day in a Life Program, introduced by the American Junior Golf Association in 2019, offers participants insights into various aspects of the golf industry, including Tournament Administration, Operations, and Communications, all while enjoying the excitement of watching top junior golfers compete in AJGA tournaments.

“Partnering with Youth on Course exemplifies our dedication to enriching the lives of young golfers through the Day in a Life program,” said Stephen Hamblin, Executive Director of the AJGA. We’re not just providing opportunities; we’re igniting a pathway to success. Through these initiatives, we aim to empower the next generation by expanding access to affordable golf and educational resources.”

In 2023, the Day in a Life program saw over 115 participants across 17 AJGA tournaments, with support from organizations like the First Tee, PGA Junior League, and the Cameron Champ Foundation. Now, with the addition of Youth on Course, the AJGA looks forward to expanding this opportunity further in 2024. This year, Youth on Course will back the Day in a Life Program at five events, raising awareness and extending the program’s impact.

“Whether it’s competing in elite tournaments or carving a career in the game, golf has a special ability to change the course of a young person’s life,” said Youth on Course, Vice President of Programs, Michael Lowe. “We are excited to partner with the AJGA to offer this educational opportunity to our members and raise up the next generation of leaders.”

The following events will be supported by Youth on Course in 2024. Each of these tournaments are hosted at an affiliate course of the Youth on Course program. These courses allow Youth on Course members to play a round for $5 or less, aiming to remove the cost barrier for young golfers.

  • Sacramento Junior Championship

  • Colorado Spring Junior

  • Vaughn Taylor Championship presented by James Hardie

  • RLX Ralph Lauren Junior Classic

  • HV3 Foundation Junior Championship

Participants in the Day in a Life Program can expect to gain valuable insights into the AJGA’s history, mission, programs, and sponsors, along with learning about golf course setup, pace of play, rules officiating, and more. This collaborative effort between the AJGA and Youth on Course aims to showcase the diverse career opportunities available in the business side of golf.

Alyn will focus on empowering young women to grow in the game

MONTEREY, Calif. — Youth on Course, the nonprofit organization dedicated to providing youth with access to life-changing opportunities through golf, names Tisha Alyn as a global ambassador. A distinguished golf media personality, former professional golfer, and Youth on Course Alumna, Alyn, is committed to empowering young women and advocating for inclusivity within the sport.

With her certification as a youth instructor and a proven ability to motivate players of all levels, Alyn is well-equipped to lead initiatives that expand opportunities for the organization’s members. Her journey into the sport was catalyzed by her family’s relocation to Murrieta, California, where she became a member of Youth on Course. This pivotal experience played a crucial role in her development, propelling her from high school to collegiate golf at California State University, Fullerton and ultimately into the professional realm.

“Youth on Course changed everything for me. It allowed me to practice much more than I otherwise would have been able to, thanks to the access to affordable rounds,” said Alyn. “As a proud alumna, I am thrilled to join forces with the organization in its mission to democratize access to golf and inspire the next generation.”

After discovering her love for golf at age three, Alyn achieved her goal of playing golf at the professional level and has since channeled her drive for success on the green into cultivating a social presence to showcase her talent. Leveraging her platform for positive change, Alyn is committed to amplifying the voices of young women in the sport and fostering a more inclusive and diverse golf community.

Alyn joins Jennifer Kupcho, Lizette Salas, Roger Steele, Condoleezza Rice and Harold Varner III as Youth on Course’s sixth global ambassador. Together, they champion the organization’s core purpose of providing young people with access to transformative opportunities through golf.

“Tisha embodies the values and spirit of Youth on Course, and we are delighted to welcome her as our newest ambassador,” states Adam Heieck, CEO of Youth on Course. “Her dedication to the game and passion for youth empowerment will undoubtedly inspire countless individuals to pursue their dreams within the world of golf.”

Founded in 2006, Youth on Course now has nearly 200,000 members with access to play golf for $5 or less at more than 2,000 courses throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia. The recent achievement of three million rounds played by its members underscores the organization’s remarkable growth and positive impact on the golf community.

Beyond affordable access, Youth on Course launched an Alumni Network earlier this year, connecting over 75,000 young adults nationwide who share a connection with the game of golf. Monterey-based nonprofit drives access to life-changing opportunities through the game of golf

MONTEREY, Calif. — Youth on Course today announced a major milestone of three million rounds played by its members. The achievement is nearly 20 years in the making and a testament to its efforts to provide access to transformative opportunities through golf via rounds of $5 or less.

The organization was founded in Monterey in 2006, on the belief that the price of a round of golf should not be a barrier for a young person who wants to play. The organization began with only six golf courses in Northern California. Since then, Youth on Course has experienced remarkable growth over its eighteen-year evolution, becoming a vital force for positive change within the golf community.

“Our core mission is driving increased access to golf by ensuring that the price of a round isn’t a barrier to the life-changing opportunities this great game provides,” said Adam Heieck, CEO of Youth on Course. “This milestone is about young people having access to play and it represents countless stories we hear from families about the positive change Youth on Course is making within their kids and their households. Three million rounds played by our members is a significant step towards making golf an inclusive and transformative opportunity for future generations.”

The nonprofit reached its first million rounds played by members in 14 years, the second million in 28 months, and the third million in just 17 months – a testament to the accelerating growth of the program. Youth on Course now boasts nearly 200,000 members with access to play golf for $5 or less at more than 2,000 courses throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia.

The three millionth round was played by Youth on Course member Cruz Amador of Whittier, CA, at Don Knabe Golf Center, a Community Hub facility in Norwalk, CA. Amador, who joined Youth on Course in June 2023 through the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) Junior Golf Club, expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided, stating, “Being part of Youth on Course has been a game-changer for me. It’s not just about playing golf; it’s about pursuing my passion and seizing opportunities I never imagined. Playing the three millionth round at Don Knabe Golf Center is an honor, and I’m grateful for the support and doors that Youth on Course has opened for me.”

Jorge Badel, Community Engagement Director for American Golf Corporation, the golf course operator, echoed the sentiment, sharing, “Partnering with Youth on Course has been an honor. Witnessing its profound impact on young golf enthusiasts like Cruz Amador is truly gratifying. With a total of 4,481 rounds played by members at our facility so far, we are proud to continue supporting this ever-growing group of young golfers in our community.”

Youth on Course established Community Hub facilities in partnership with TaylorMade to offer a welcoming place for underserved youth to gain access to free TaylorMade rental equipment, knowledge, and caring mentors. The facilities are an extension of the DRIVE Club and are strategically located in major urban centers.

The impact of Youth on Course extends beyond providing affordable golf access. Earlier this year, the organization launched the Alumni Network, uniting over 75,000 young adults nationwide who share a connection with the game of golf. For $20 per year, former Youth on Course members 19 and older are invited to join a unique community that builds meaningful connections, supports personal growth, and provides opportunities through social networking events and exclusive benefits that will complement any lifestyle.

Alumni can access exclusive benefits and opportunities valued at over $500 through the Youth on Course mobile app. From complimentary subscriptions to NBC Sports Next’s GolfPass and Peacock streaming to discounts on renowned golf brands like TaylorMade Golf and LinkSoul and exclusive app access to ParPoints, the Alumni Network offers an array of perks.

Youth on Course has partnered with Opendorse to create the largest NIL deal in golf.

(MONTEREY, Calif.) – Youth on Course — the non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of young people through opportunities on and off the golf course – has announced its latest initiative, YOC Athlete. Youth on Course (YOC) has recruited eighteen exceptional high school and collegiate athletes/YOC members and alumni from across the country to use their platforms to highlight the importance of affordable access to golf for young people and encourage families/juniors to sign up for YOC membership.

To enhance the impact, Youth on Course has partnered with industry leader, Opendorse to create the largest NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) deal in golf. “YOC Athlete is what NIL is all about,” said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. “We’re incredibly proud to help Youth on Course further its core purpose by working alongside its current and former athlete members. Any mission-driven brand can look to this campaign to see how authenticity and scale can create impact in the NIL era.”

As the climate of college athletics has evolved over the past few years, the opportunity to partner with various athletes presented via Opendorse will allow the YOC message and experience to reach an even wider audience with the intent to help with both membership and alumni network growth. These athletes come from various backgrounds and experiences while competing at the highest levels, all with the shared experience of being/have been a YOC member and now an integral part of YOC’s growing alumni base.

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome these tremendous young men and women as our first group of YOC Athletes,” says Moe Melhart, YOC’s Director of Alumni Relations. “Their platform as college student athletes allows them to share so much about their experience as former YOC members and now their journey as YOC Alumni. I know their impact will be significant as we continue to build our culture of alumni within Youth on Course.”

The first group of YOC Athletes is composed of both men and women competing at the Division I, II and III levels in ten different conferences including the Big Ten Conference, the Pac-12 Conference and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Athletes will support the YOC message through a variety of different modes such as social media, web presence and both live and virtual events. These athletes must be in good academic and team standing and align with the core purpose of YOC. Over the course of the coming months, YOC Athletes will be hard at work balancing their academic and athletic schedules as well as sharing about their lives and their journey. To learn more about YOC Athlete, contact Moe Melhart at moe@youthoncourse.org.

66th Secretary of State to join efforts to increase access to golf for young people and raise awareness for nonprofit’s work to create a more inclusive and diverse future for the sport of golf

MONTEREY, Calif.  Youth on Course — the non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the landscape of golf and the lives of young people through opportunities on and off the golf course – has named 66th U.S. Secretary of State, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, as its fifth global ambassador.

Dr. Rice joins ambassadors Jennifer Kupcho, Lizette Salas, Harold Varner III and Roger Steele as an official advocate for Youth on Course’s mission of providing affordable access to golf and bringing life-changing opportunities to young golfers across North America.

“When young people are introduced to golf, not only do they have the chance to learn new skills but they are exposed to valuable life lessons they can apply off the golf course,” says Dr. Rice “I am passionate about ensuring that all youth  have opportunities to gain access to this sport, and I’m proud to work with Youth on Course on this mission.”

After discovering golf at the age of 50, Dr. Rice enjoys challenging herself on the course and encourages people of all backgrounds and stages in life to try the game. A highly respected public servant and academic, Dr. Rice has been a long-time advocate for youth involvement in sports, particularly around Title IX and the impact that it has on female athletes. Dr. Rice has maintained involvement in amateur and professional sports, serving on the inaugural College Football Playoff Committee and joining the Walton-Penner Family ownership group of the Denver Broncos earlier this year.

“Dr. Rice has been a strong role model for young people throughout her career “ says Kathy Wiggans, Youth on Course Board Chair. “Her unique experience and leadership will be a tremendous benefit to our organization, and we are thrilled to have her join our team as an Ambassador.”

Youth on Course operates across North America with more than 140,000 active members. Since 2006, YOC members have played more than two million subsidized rounds of golf while the organization has helped generate more than $8 million in tee-time revenue reimbursed back to individual golf courses. In addition to subsidized rounds, Youth on Course puts its members’ lives on a different trajectory by providing off-course growth and learning experiences including paid internships, a caddie program, and nationwide scholarships. More than 300 students have been awarded college scholarships to date totaling over $2 million.
