The 28^th ranked player in the FedExCup points from South Africa finished T16 at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC. He shot rounds of 70, 69, 72 and 72 for a total of 283 in the exclusive 70-player field competing for a $20 million purse. He earned $301,000.

Brand ambassador and PGA Tour champion Matt Wallace shot rounds of 72, 64, 70 and 67 to finish T20 at the Myrtle Beach Classic. Wallace shot 72, 64, 70 and 67 for a total of 273 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Wallace, who joined the PGA Tour in 2020, has ten international victories since turning pro in 2012.  This year had started out slowly for Wallace who won the Corales Puntacana Championship in 2023, and as a top player on the DP World Tour, has earned more than $6.5 million in official money. 

He took three weeks off prior to the Zurich Classic to rehab a shoulder injury that occurred due to “overplaying” according to Wallace. After making a bunch of twos on the par-3s at the Zurich Classic, the PGA Tour’s only team event in Louisiana, where he competed alongside Thorbjorn Oleson, Wallace knew “something like this was coming.” 

One of the highlights of Friday’s round after Thursday’s record low 63, was Wallace’s eagle putt on the par four, 330-yard 14^th hole.  Wallace hit a massive 315-yard drive into the wind that rolled onto the front of the green.  It was the only eagle made on 14 all day. 

“I swung a little bit fast, a little bit quick and hit it perfect on the right line,” said Wallace “Now I know what it feels like to be Rory.”

While coming up a few birdies shy on Sunday, Wallace is happy with how well he is striking the ball; about feeling healthy and being comfortable with his swing and feel on the greens.  “I’m in a good spot” said Wallace, “…rolling the ball good on the greens, so I’ve kind of got everything.”

The PGA Tour’s only official team event had a field of 160 players comprising of 80 two-man teams. The teams competed in fourballs (best ball) in Rounds 1 and 3, and in foursomes (alternate shot) in Rounds 2 and 4.

The 2Thumb twosome shot an impressive ten under 62 in round three on Saturday.  Gusting winds up to 30 mph made for an extremely tricky day in terms of club selection and strategy on the course.

The player with the alliterative name eagled the second hole in fourball action and followed it up with a birdie putt on hole #5 to get things off to fast start. The team recorded a second eagle on Hole 11 along with three additional birdies to match three birdies on the front. 

Similar conditions prevailed on Sunday with players unable to get too aggressive in the final round of alternate shot play.  Putting with 2Thumb’s NEW SNUG TOUR PISTOL grip, the two-time PGA Tour winner combined with his teammate to score rounds of 63, 69, 62 and 75. He earned $74,760.00.
