Overland Park, KS – Since entering the golf market in 2019, Vortex Weather Insurance has seen rapid growth as directors of golf and tournament directors are finding out about the availability and the importance of purchasing rain insurance to protect their tournament and charity events from potential bad weather. To expand its visibility and awareness in golf, Vortex Weather Insurance has also been growing its partnerships and key relationships throughout the country.
Vortex Weather Insurance is proud to announce that it has renewed the second year of its two-year partnership with the New Jersey PGA Section. This marks the sixth PGA Section that Vortex has partnered with as an official sponsor including the MET, Philly, Carolinas, North and Florida PGA Sections.
What exactly is weather insurance? By taking advantage of recent advancements made by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Vortex Weather Insurance utilizes localized-gridded weather data to determine the protection coverage. Rainfall is calculated within a 2.5 mile-square box of the actual course location and can protect any golf event from weather risk down to 1/5 (.02) inch of rain. This allows Vortex to provide data-driven hourly policies that are extremely affordable and help protect a tournament’s bottom line.
“Vortex Weather Insurance is excited to continue our partnership with the New Jersey PGA Section,” said Eric Anderson, Vortex Insurance Producer and Golf Consultant. “As a former assistant club professional and a professional golfer, I understand how tournaments, fundraisers and “giving back” are key cornerstones of the golf business. You can’t predict the weather, but Vortex can help protect the event revenue and provide tournament organizers and volunteers peace of mind if bad weather impacts the event.”
The New Jersey PGA Section has also selected Vortex Weather Insurance to protect two of its main annual events: the Pro Pro Championship at Galloway National Golf Club Monday, April 12th and the Head Pro Championship at New Jersey National Golf Club on Monday, June 7th.
“The ability to partner with Vortex Insurance not only provides protection for our most prestigious tournaments but also benefits our members and their events throughout the section,” said NJPGA Executive Director Chris Bauer.
Weather Insurance is unique because ‘proof of loss’ is not required for Vortex to pay a claim. A Vortex
weather insurance claim occurs simply when the defined rainfall amount is recorded during the defined coverage period. For example, when rainfall takes your event to cart paths only, but you are able to play through it, parametric rain insurance still applies and can provide a payout. The event does not have to be canceled. And most importantly, claim payments are quick- typically less than two weeks – to offer immediate financial relief.
