Analyst, Commentator and First Female President of the PGA Hosts NGCOA’s Annual Executive Retreat
Charleston, S.C. – The National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) is pleased to announce that Suzy Whaley, the first female president of the PGA of America and current network broadcast talent and commentator, will serve as host and emcee for Multi-Course & Resort Operators Retreat 2023 (MCOR23), being held July 18-19, 2023 in Monterey, California.
“Suzy has been, and continues to be, a trailblazer in our industry — and we’re delighted to have her lead our MCOR23 program,” said Taylor Wall, NGCOA’s Senior Director of Education. “Her knowledge of golf is in a class of its own, and whether you hear Suzy on a golf telecast or behind a podium, there is no mistaking her passion and enthusiasm. We’re beyond excited for her to join us in Monterey and further elevate such an important event.”
Whaley is a Master PGA Professional, has been named a Golf Digest top-50 instructor, a Golf Magazine top-100 instructor, an LPGA top-50 teacher and a two-time Connecticut Teacher of the Year. In 2003, Whaley, a former LPGA Tour player, became the first woman in 58 years to qualify for a PGA TOUR event when she qualified for the 2003 Greater Hartford Open after winning the Connecticut PGA Championship in 2002. Most recently, she was announced as president of Golf Nation, a premium golf lifestyle entertainment platform.
“I’m excited and honored to be the emcee for MCOR23,” said Whaley. “Looking at past MCOR retreats, it’s easy to see how this event draws our industry’s top executives and most influential course owners and operators. Altogether, these individuals will represent nearly 2,000 of our nation’s golf facilities. I’m so looking forward to hearing their perspectives, seeing familiar faces, and making many new connections — all while leading everyone through an exceptional education program in Monterey, one of my favorite cities!”
