WEST PALM BEACH, Florida –   On May 28 at 10am EST Women’s Golf Day (WGD) 2024 gets underway with the annual WGD Palooza, a digital day calling for golfers to ‘Get Social – On and Off the Course’.  Uniting people through golf is fundamental to the ethos of WGD, which is why this digital day was established back in 2020 providing insights, entertainment, and celebrations of all things golf from around the globe.

In 2023 WGD’s social media performance delivered included 397,143 engagements, a reach of 92,179,471 and 194,920,049 impressions which is one of the reasons why this year WGD Palooza will be aired across the @womensgolfday social media channels.  The content will have the same fun and entertaining videos and giveaways from WGD Partners and WGD itself and to maximize reach and accessibility it will sit permanently on the WGD YouTube and all social channels.  For more details visit https://www.womensgolfday.com/wgdpalooza/

As well as inviting the global golf community to Get Social at WGD Palooza, WGD is also encouraging women to Get Social at events around the globe.  When women are empowered to get involved in golf the results are spectacular, for instance in Japan where over 100 courses and 8 driving ranges have registered to hold events in 2024.

“We have been working with the Japan Golf Association (JGA) and our Ambassador Mitsuru since 2022,” explains founder for Women’s Golf Day Elisa Gaudet. “I was fortunate to visit Tokyo and Kyoto in November and spend time with the JGA, some of the courses, industry leaders and MCO Accordia and it was very encouraging to witness firsthand the increasing interest from the industry as well as Japanese women.  This market is one we have focused our energies on and really want to help them grow female participation.”

The proven formula of WGD events allows for participation whatever your ability.  “Existing golfers are encouraged to bring a friend along to a WGD event,” continues Gaudet.  “Because the WGD format incorporates beginners as well as current golfers and has a social element, everyone has fun.  And that is what is important.  Golf can be hard to learn, but if people do that in a friendly, inclusive environment where they can see that playing golf means becoming part of a fantastic community, then people will come back.”

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida –   On the back of the American Golf Industry Coalition’s visit to Washington DC, Women’s Golf Day (WGD) locations around the globe are ramping up their activity in the lead up to the weeklong celebrations starting on May 28 with WGD Palooza.  Women’s Golf Day founder Elisa Gaudet was part of the delegation who shared their insights at Capitol Hill.  More than 45 million people are engaging with the sport, including more women than ever before, driving a direct economic impact of $102 billion and 1.65 million jobs across the U.S.  Golf is in great shape and WGD is a fantastic, proven method for locations to engage with this growing female demand.

Amongst the locations hosting events this year is Omni PGA Frisco, steps away from the PGA of America’s headquarters. This is the first year Omni PGA Frisco is hosting a WGD event and  WGD Founder Elisa Gaudet will be in attendance on June 4th.  “Women’s Golf Day unites women and girls, fostering empowerment and camaraderie through the game of golf. Beyond providing a delightful experience, it equips participants with skills that resonate throughout their lives,” says Trish Holt, PGA Head Professional at Omni PGA Frisco Resort just outside Dallas. “Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious newcomer, Women’s Golf Day, in collaboration with the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, extends a warm welcome. Let’s celebrate and empower women in golf together!”

The TPC Network will be hosting WGD events at 15 of their locations, most of which also hold PGA TOUR events including the famed TPC Sawgrass. Dobson Ranch Golf Course is another location in the US that is set for a fantastic day, having attracted 200 women to its first event in 2023.  This year the Arizona venue is bringing in women owned businesses from across the state to enhance the event.  Augusta Ranch Golf Club, also in Arizona and owned by the Vice President of the PGA of America Don Rea, will be hosting an event on May 30th which will be attended by Elisa Gaudet.

“We are encouraging women to get out and get social.  Golf is such a social game and given the format of our events includes lessons for new players and a 9-hole round for existing golfers, it is a great way to Bring A Friend that is new to golf. We are leaning into this on social media as well using #BringAFriend and “Get Social” as our Palooza campaign “ says Gaudet.

There are several new locations in the UK joining the WGD community.  Bramshaw Golf Club, the oldest course in the south of England is having its first event, as are Bromsgrove Golf Club and Canterbury Golf Club where WGD Ambassadors Emma Ballard and Leslee Moger will be playing respectively.  Former PGA Captain Sarah Bennett is hosting at Lexden Wood Golf Club and former chair of the WPGA, Kirsty MacDonald, is inviting women to join her at historic Newark Golf Club in Nottinghamshire.

Further afield The Legend Golf Course in Mauritius and Palheiro Golf in Madeira are examples of island nations who have successfully run WGD events year on year and will do again this June.  The Accordia Group in Japan is also back for 2024 with events across Japan including those at Okazaki and Izumisano Country Clubs.  There are also events in Africa, South and Central America all of which can be found here: https://www.womensgolfday.com/locations/

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida –    It’s just four weeks until Women’s Golf Day (WGD) 2024 gets underway.  This year the annual WGD Palooza, a digital day that kicks off the weeklong celebrations on May 28, will be a social media event capitalizing on the incredible year-on-year growth of the WGD social platforms.  “Getting Social- On and Off the Course” is also what women and girls are being encouraged to do when they play at their WGD registered location of choice. This is further amplified through the WGD campaign #BringAFriend.

“Women can be really nervous about trying something new,” explains Founder of Women’s Golf Day, Elisa Gaudet.  “This is where the idea of #BringAFriend has really helped our locations get new golfers to participate.  We encourage existing golfers to bring a woman that would like to learn to play golf, thus the number of participants at an event immediately doubles.  And, because the WGD format incorporates beginners as well as current golfers and has a social element, everyone gets the chance to play with people of similar ability and meet the wider golf community.”

WGD Palooza will take place on May 28th at 10:00 am EST.  The content, which will be shared on the 28th and then throughout the week on all  @womensgolfday social channels and is being curated by the WGD social team. The content will have the same fun and entertaining videos and giveaways from WGD Partners and WGD itself.  To maximize reach and exposure the content will sit permanently on the WGD You Tube and all social channels for people to watch in their own time.  https://www.womensgolfday.com/wgdpalooza/

WGD Events will take place around the world from May 28 – June 4, WGD’s anniversary.  There are a wide variety of venues taking part.  Annual participants, who see their numbers rising year on year, are joined by new locations inspired to celebrate girls and women playing golf.  The one thing uniting the private member clubs, simulator venues, retail locations, Major host venues and short courses is the tried and tested 4-hour format of golf followed by a social event.  Registered WGD locations can be found here: https://www.womensgolfday.com/locations/

Women’s Golf Day (WGD) founder Elisa Gaudet has been named the winner of the 2024 ING Industry Honors Award for Business Achievement, at the 30th annual event held at the PGA Merchandise Show.

The ING Industry Honors program recognizes outstanding achievement by ING members in the golf business. The non-profit, media-based networking organization remains one of the most respected bodies in the golf industry. Nominees in all categories are submitted throughout the year from anyone in the golf industry. The Industry Honors committee then trims the entries to the top three in each category. ING members then vote electronically to determine the winners, who are announced and recognized at the Industry Honors Presentation Press Conference.

“To receive this award from my peers is very special,” commented Gaudet. “When I started Women’s Golf Day my intention was and still is to bring the game I love to more women. It has been very gratifying to build a successful business that serves women around the world and connects women and men to the game of golf and now be recognized by the industry. This has scaled larger than any of us could have imagined and we are grateful for the many PGA members, pros and industry leaders that have supported and joined with us in bringing more women and girls to golf.”

Gaudet received her award only hours after hosting the PGA Show Women’s Golf Day Panel. The panel discussion reflected on developing authentic relationships with the female audience and the financial influence women have in general and in the golf market.  Alongside Gaudet were newly named WGD Ambassador and 1980’s supermodel Kim Alexis, Senior Membership Director at the NGCOA, Rachel Carter, and former PGA Captain and WGD Ambassador Sarah Bennet.

“We had some fantastic insights shared at the panel, and I think this award is another reflection on the financial power of better engaging female golfers in the game,” concluded Gaudet. “We look forward to helping more organizations explore how they can inspire new audiences and new customers. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have had the support of organizations who have shared our vision and helped us to grow our event across over 1300 venues in 84 countries.”

“Among others, Callaway Golf, PGA of America, PGA TOUR Superstore, RBC, The R&A, Japan Golf Association and USGA have all supported the Women’s Golf Day story, so they must share in this award for the faith they have shown in Women’s Golf Day and our founding idea.”

From Times Square to Tokyo WGD brings global smiles

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The first weeklong Women’s Golf Day (WGD) celebration drew to a close as the last event finished at Moorea Green Pearl Golf Club in French Polynesia on Tuesday evening, the 6th of June.  More women and girls were able to access these celebratory events in 2023 than ever before given the new weeklong format and the increase in the number of participating countries and venues.

Starting with WGD Palooza Digital Day and the ringing of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Opening Bell, the celebration continued throughout the week.  New and existing female golfers around the globe dressed in red and white to share their experiences on social media.  The new format generated a staggering 194million impressions, an increase of over 100million impressions verses 2022, with an incredible 397,143 engagements and 92million+ reach sharing a collective joy that perhaps can only be measured in smiles.

Key highlights of Women’s Golf Day 2023 included:

  • WGD Palooza; a specially curated USGA Museum Tour, Instruction from Callaway and Titleist players, an interview with founding members of Project Ukraine and giveaways from WGD partners including The USGA, PGA, R&A, Callaway, Titleist, FootJoy, PGA TOUR Superstore, Imperial, Marco Simone, and Make Golf Your Thing
  • NYSE Opening; WGD Founder, Elisa Gaudet, was joined by a delegation including representatives from Acushnet and LPGA player Danielle Kang as Gaudet rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange
  • New Countries; Gambia, Greece, Peru, and Zambia joined the WGD community for the first time in 2023 taking the total number of participating countries to 84
  • Japan Growth; after running 3 events in 2022, WGD and The Japanese Golf Federation worked in collaboration to grow the number of host locations in Japan from 3 to 139 in under 12 months
  • Championship Venues; More than 1,300 locations have hosted the event since 2016 including high profile venues like Marco Simone host of 2023 Ryder Cup, Pinehurst – host of the 2024 US Open, TPC Sawgrass- The PLAYERS Championship, Firestone Country Club – the World Series of Golf, TPC Scottsdale- WM Phoenix Open, Evian Resort- The Amundi Evian Championship in France, Taiheiyo Club Minori Course in Japan, and Aphrodite Hills Golf & Country Club in Cyprus
  • PGA TOUR Superstore (PGATSS) – Official Retailer of Women’s Golf Day held instore activation events. PGATSS held events at all stores across the USA, excluding California, Saturday June 3rd. There were driving contests in the simulators and basic instruction for new golfers as well as a putting contests and the chance to win a Women’s Golf Day branded Callaway Golf Bag.
  • Golf Town – Canadian retailer hosted WGD events on Tuesday June 6th at all 47 locations across Canada.

“Every year we work to increase the number of facilities that host Women’s Golf Day and it was very exciting to welcome the 139 courses from Japan and watch on social media, in real time, the impact WGD has on golf around the globe.  I experienced first-hand how important it is to have new and existing female golfers participate in WGD events to build confidence, new friendships and skills that do last a lifetime. Our goal is to create more opportunities and unity and we are achieving that on a global level,” commented Gaudet.

She continued, “Growing demand for additional days from host locations prompted us to expand to a weeklong format, resulting in impactful and significant activation on each day this week. Starting on May 30th with the WGD Palooza digital day and May 31st ringing the opening bell at the NYSE with Acushnet (Titleist and FootJoy). It is important to have retail engagement and in store activation from both PGA TOUR Superstore and Golf Town as well as championship courses around the world hosing events.  Having lived in NYC for 10 years it is thrilling to see WGD and Acushnet billboards running for a few weeks in Times Square as well as Silicon Valley.  This support includes our partners, RBC, who are hosting the RBC Canadian Open this week.”

Locations are invited to register now for 2024 allowing them to make full use of the promotional opportunities the Women’s Golf Day platform offers them throughout the year.  Registered locations are encouraged to update their location page regularly throughout the year to promote other offerings at the club including travel/ trips, instruction, and ongoing events.  They will also receive additional support through the WGD social media channels and direct marketing opportunities. The Tour also includes the remarkable story of Althea Gibson, who became the first African American woman to win a Tennis Grand Slam event, switched sports to excel on the LPGA Tour and then continued on to become the first female U.S. state athletic commissioner.  Other fantastic exhibits include stories of triumph in the face of adversity including the story of Babe Zaharias, one of the U.S’s most impressive female athletes, who continued to play after a cancer diagnosis and became known not only for her athletic abilities but as a public advocate for cancer awareness.  Plus a section chartering Ben Hogan’s remarkable come back from his 1949 life threatening car accident, defying the odds to win on Tour again.

Elisa Gaudet, Founder of Women’s Golf Day, and the WGD team created WGD Palooza in 2021 at a time where connection was more significant than ever, and that driving force remains at the heart of the celebrations as she explains, “The pandemic inspired us to create a virtual event that would provide connections that many of us missed.  This connectivity and unity remains at the heart of WGD Palooza as we bring together people from all around the globe to learn and get inspired by some of the most incredible stories from the world of golf. Add in fantastic sponsor giveaways, celebrity messages and the chance to be part of a truly global event no matter where you live, and WGD Palooza 2023 is set to the perfect start of our new week-long celebrations.”

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida  – Women’s Golf Day (WGD) and the PGA of America have renewed their partnership agreement.  Under the agreement there are multiple opportunities for PGA professionals to earn MSR credits and a mutual commitment to highlighting the resources and opportunities created by both parties for women to gain access to golf.

“Women’s Golf Day gives our members fantastic opportunities to grow their network and learn more about the women’s game around the world,” commented Sandy Cross,  Chief People Officer of the PGA of America.  “We are a very proud partner of this global movement and the way in which it continues to offer female golfers the chance to celebrate their enjoyment of the game and attract even more women into the sport by connecting them to PGA Coaches, career opportunities, and more.”

PGA Professionals can earn MSR credits for hosting a WGD event on any day between May 30th and June 6th, for attending the virtual May 30th WGD Palooza, and the PGA Merchandise Show held each January.  WGD will participate in the promotion of various PGA initiatives including ‘Find a PGA Coach’, PGA of America Events, PGA of America Career Match and Vendor Match opportunities.

“The PGA has always been an important supporter of Women’s Golf Day.  We value its members, their continued promotion of our game, and their support as hosts of WGD events,” comments Founder of Women’s Golf Day Elisa Gaudet.  “Interest and participation in women’s golf is growing around the world, so we encourage PGA Professionals to use the week of Women’s Golf Day to host an official WGD event, thus creating an opportunity for new and existing golfers. WGD format gives women in their area the chance to try golf for the first time and to mix and mingle with existing golfers. WGD gives us all the opportunity to play locally and connect globally. #BringAFriend    #MakeAFriend    #WGDunites”
