WEARING TOUR FLEX PRO, THE WORLD NO.1 BECOMES THE FIRST PLAYER IN HISTORY TO SUCCESSFULLY DEFEND THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Brentwood, Tenn., – Softspikes® captured its 11th PGA Tour win in a row on Sunday as the World No.1, wearing his trusted Tour Flex Pro spikes in his Nike golf shoes, produced a stunning final round comeback to secure back-to-back Tour titles and become the first player to successfully defend The Players Championship.

Starting the final round 5-shots behind the leader, the World No.1 was in scintillating form on Sunday, holing out for eagle from the fourth fairway and reeling off four birdies in a five-hole stretch around the turn that would prove pivotal. He would go on to win by a 1-shot margin thanks to a 8 under par round of 64.

The win at The Players Championship marks the 4th PGA Tour title in a row for players wearing the No.1 spike on Tour, Tour Flex Pro. It was also another strong showing for players taking advantage of replaceable traction technology. 81% of the field who wore Softspikes combined to bring home $21,720,971 in winnings compared to a mere $3,961,027 collected by those who opted for spikeless shoes. In total, 23 of the top 30 finishers chose to wear spikes over a spikeless alternative.

Commenting on The Players Championship performance, Joe Henderson, President, Softspikes noted, “To have the World’s No.1 player winning back-to back and breaking records left right and center wearing Tour Flex Pro is absolutely fantastic for our brand. Then, add to that the fact that 90% of PGA Tour winners this season have done so wearing spikes clearly shows that replaceable traction delivers the performance gains that make all the difference.”

Tour players change grips and traction regularly based on course conditions, but amateur golfers rarely think about the impact wearing spikes has on consistency and distance. To achieve optimal performance benefits, golfers should be switching up their spikes every 15 rounds.
