LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (March 6, 2008) – ShotWatch™, an innovative training and practice device for golfers dedicated to swing control and consistency, is featured on this week’s Golf Smarter Podcast. The episode, entitled “Tempo, Speed, and Grip Pressure,” is dated March 4, 2008, and is accessible at golfsmarterpodcast.com. During the half-hour in-depth show, host Fred Greene interviews Dr. Ted Caldwell, chairman and co-inventor of ShotWatch, about the genesis of the product, and Dr. David Wright, an award-winning instructor, about his use of ShotWatch as a teaching tool with amateurs and professionals alike.
“We are pleased to be the subject of this Golf Smarter podcast,” Caldwell said. “We believe avid golfers will enjoy the insight into swing dynamics and ways in which ShotWatch can help improve their games. They may even pick up a tip or two for use during their next focused practice sessions.”
ShotWatch has been use since its inception by Dr. Wright in his instructional programs. Wright, a clinical psychologist, Top-100 Golf Digest Instructor and teaching professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Clinic and Country Club in Mission Viejo, Calif., is an ardent proponent of ShotWatch.
“I recommend the ShotWatch to the touring pros I coach, and I also use it in skills training with the University of Southern California women’s golf team,” says Wright, who serves as an advisory board member for ShotWatch. “But in addition to professionals and skilled amateurs, even complete novices can use it with good results. It’s truly a product for any level.”
ShotWatch recently was introduced worldwide. Worn like a wristwatch by players during range practice sessions, ShotWatch helps golfers develop swing consistency through instant feedback and muscle memory training.
ShotWatch provides immediate data readings on swing speed, tempo and grip pressure. A golfer simply presses the “Save” button and the ShotWatch remembers his best swing. The built-in signaling device on the ShotWatch alerts a player when he deviates from his pre-programmed personal best swing. The instant feedback facilitates muscle memory control, helping players maintain consistency and thus stay “in the groove.” Designed for use either alone or in conjunction with other training devices, ShotWatch provides fundamental information golfers need in order to experience productive practice sessions. It includes a “Handicap” feature which adjusts its parameters to the skill level of the user.
Using circuitry guided by servo-motors and sensors, ShotWatch utilizes sophisticated technologies from robotics, servomechanisms, the aerospace and medical device industries.
For more information, see www.shotwatch.com or call 949-497-9880. ShotWatch is available for purchase from the Web site as well as through quality pro shops and golf specialty outlets.
